I am trained to perform massage safely for individuals living with cancer, and those who are in remission. Special care must be taken to avoid overloading the circulatory system during chemo treatments, and pressure must be adjusted to prevent lymphedema in limbs near compromised lymph nodes. Each session requires re-evaluation of the individual's current treatments and medications. In the case of existing lymphedema, it is recommended to make a separate appointment for lymphedema evaluation and treatment with Complete Decongestive Therapy.

CranioSacral Therapy is a very gentle treatment method for the nervous system that clears blockages of CerebroSpinal Fluid (CSF). CSF circulation affects our overall well-being because it lubricates and nourishes the brain and spinal column, the core of our nerve center. CranioSacral treatments can also assist the digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and circulatory systems, as they are all connected to the nervous system.

Lymphedema Evaluation

Lymphedema patients can be evaluated by Gina Moore, Certified Lymphedema Therapist, for the type and length of therapy needed to address their current lymphedema stage. Measurements of the affected and non-affected limbs are taken at each appointment. Then, Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is applied to reduce limb and truncal size. CDT includes Manual Lymphatic Drainage, skin care, bandaging and/or application of compression garments, and home exercises prescribed to assist limb size reduction. Please allow 90 minutes for initial evaluation and 75 minutes for follow-up CDT sessions

Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage

Developed in France by Emil and Estrid Vodder, Manual Lymphatic Drainage is the most well-known technique to assist lymph flow and aid in drainage of tissues. The skin is stretched based on scientific, physiological principles that have been proven to reduce swelling, enhance recovery and treat lymphedema. Individuals seeking to support their health by eliminating toxins and boosting their immunity will also greatly benefit from the drainage effects of MLD.

The manual techniques used in MLD are very gentle, slow and relaxing. The lymphatic system, which is effectively our immune system, has no pump like the heart does for our circulatory system. Therefore, lymph does not move unless we perform deep breathing or pump our muscles on a regular basis. With the rise of technology and more sedentary lifestyles, there is a greater need for manual movement of lymph fluid, and MLD is a great way to keep our immune system clean and ready to handle incoming would-be invaders.

Welcome! My personal mission is to help individuals reduce pain, calm their nervous systems and feel good in their bodies. I have hundreds of hours of specialized training including Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, Oncology massage, CranioSacral Therapy from the Upledger Institute, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Reiki and protocols for trauma survivors. I am also a Certified LymphedemaTherapist and offer onsite Hospice massage.
Since the start of my career I have offered discounted rates to cancer patients to help them through their journey of treatments, and provide safe bodywork to prevent lymphedema.
I share my knowledge and experience at McKinnon Body Therapy Center as an instructor in Lymphatic anatomy, Oncology massage and Hospice massage.
I am also available one day a week at Stanford Healthcare in Pleasanton providing massage to cancer patients there.
